The Vinschgau: constant lovers will be rewarded

The Vinschgau: is it really so beautiful that we can describe it as graceful, pleasing or lovely?
Josef Rampold, a very well-known South Tyrolean nature lover and author of books, once wrote about the Vinschgau: “The Vinschgau is a shy landscape, a kind of lover, that reveals herself only reluctantly. Superficial suitors are met with disdain, whereas constant lovers are richly rewarded.”

Indeed, the Vinschgau is a valley of many faces. From the extensive green fruit orchards rise medieval castles. This sun-kissed landscape has always produced good wine: our 12th century wine cellar is proof of that. Numerous tranquil villages are home to picturesque old churches. On precipitous slopes mountain farms proudly stand, their carefully tended meadows, fields and gardens bearing witness to the hard work and tenacity of the local inhabitants. If you now imagine the towering 3,000 metre peaks with South Tyrol’s highest mountain, the Ortler (3,905 m), then have you the Vinschgau. Another important factor for your holiday in the Vinschgau is the fact that this valley is among the driest in the Alps.
